Could we call it discipline?

A lot of people think that being patient is something inherited, but it’s something you are or aren’t. I must say that I have not always been patient, when I was younger for example, my patience was surely not really developed πŸ˜› I realized it when on my first Coast-Guard patrol back in 2006 (read more about it here) – I was piloting the boat on a narrow canal approaching the lock and my crew chief needed to tell me to slow down. In my opinion, we were still very far and since the goal was to get there, I didn’t really understand why we should slow down and not simply get there as fast as possible. Well, there were many reasons, like giving the example the other boats as well as for security reasons, but for me it was hard to take my time because I was not so patient.

After a couple years of experience, I’m now known in my daily life for being very patient. Not that I enjoy it, just that I understood its important. I think that being patient is a matter of self-discipline – something no one is born with and something everyone can learn, but indeed hard to achieve. The best way to gain patience is to fix yourself a goal, that will automatically give you discipline in a positive way and therefore more patience.

This is how I spent over 60 hours of work on my dirt bike lately. My motivation was not always there, and near the end of the project it’s always way harder to get it done, but when there’s a goal behind it, well it suddenly becomes easier. I also have deadlines to respect all the times as Lettrage T2 Design needed to install the sponsors’ logos on the bike before the video shoot happens this weekend, so make sure to put these dates on your calendar with some main target points!

Hope that these quick tricks will help you to get your projects all the way to the end! Down here I prepared a time-lapse video of all the process, cutting off some boring and repeating parts to let you see the best of it πŸ™‚ Hope you will enjoy and if so let me know by sharing it on your wall and hopefully inspire other people to work hard on their projects too!
